The Road of Service
Published on: December 9, 2011
Good Day to MHC and Friends,
Last Saturday we held The Road of Service event at the Ortiz Clinic to reach out to the community of Picture Rocks and spotlight the Ortiz Clinic. As you know Mother Nature was having her own party with all the rain that we experienced last week. Rain or Shine MHC will come thru for the community and we did just that on Saturday! Attached is a montage of select pics to illustrate the day of kids, big and small.
On Saturday morning, we are grateful that the sky opened up and let the sun shine thru until about 1:30pm. Overall the formula for the event was in place and would have made for a great time for a group of 200…however, with the cold weather, there was only a small number of bikers and participants who attended the event. For those who faced the cold temps…we are delighted you were out with us to bring in the holidays.
We had 6 Motorcycle entries in our amateur bike show. MHC’s Paul Giordano took 1st place for best ALL Round Entry, two other members of the community rolled in for 2nd Place Impressive Entry and People’s Choice.
A HUGE thanks to the Harley Davidson of Tucson group. Harley Davidson of Tucson’s, HD promotional Harley Team, showed up and braved the cold and took pictures with the kids and Santa near some very shiny Hogs that the participants would have loved to take home. We thank Michelle Hains of HD of Tucson for the raffle prizes and the 3 gift certificates they offered to award our bike show winners…Thanks you Harley Davidson!!!
We are so grateful to Santa Tim from Picture Rocks Fire Department who volunteered to bring cheer to the neighborhood.
Hats off to Bill and MJ of Creative Catering who set up to offer Biker Burger Baskets and hot chocolate to the public. The set up was most very festive and looked great…those who did partake and had a chili dog or a burger were very impressed. Thank you Creative Catering for being so community minded.
Our sincere thanks goes out to the two bands who donated their time, J. T. Reno and Liquid Edge as well as the Jones Town Band. Michael Zubay is their enthusiastic band representative and was fantastic in getting the group out and set up to perform good ‘ole rock n roll tunes…they sounded great! These two groups all loaded up their equipment and set up a full sound system to be part of our gig…very impressive gentlemen.
Our vendors who sold jewelry, gift items, Christmas wreaths (DD Sande, Lee Ann Carter, Regina Brown) and offered information on our BH services, outreach and mammography (Frank, Paul, Shanna and Angelica) added to the experience of those who were part of the day. We thank you for your time and supporting MHC!
And last but not least…thank you to Anna Anderson for all her help and coordination to make the details for set up a snap. Both Anna and Rebecca Lobo Picon were shutter bugs and captured the moments and the smiling faces of the kids (big ones and little ones) who got to see Santa on Saturday…thank you ladies.
Again, the event had all the makings of a great day…next year we will be sure to turn off the water works.
Happy Holidays!
