About the Department

MHC Healthcare (MHC) Behavioral Health Services, providing behavioral health and community services, was developed approximately 30 years ago. Over the last 15 years, the Department has tripled its staff and currently has contracts and/or collaboration agreements with many behavioral health organizations in Tucson, Arizona. On July 1, 2010, MHC Behavioral Health Services became a Community Service Provider (CSP) with the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona (CPSA). CPSA receives funding from the Arizona Department of Health Services/Division of Behavioral Health Services (ADHS/DBHS), Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Behavioral Health Services staff work closely with adult and juvenile probation to provide court ordered services to probationers and other individuals involved with the court system. MHC Behavioral Health Services also has contracts to provide services to families involved with DES/CPS, as well as individuals who have AHCCCS and are needing behavioral health services.

MHC Healthcare has three integrated sites.  The Integrative Healthcare Center, IHCC, is located in the new Medical facility and provides integrative services for our seriously mentally ill clients. In this location, the clients receive not only medical, psychiatric and behavioral health services in one location, but also dental, lab, radiology, pharmacy and physical therapy.

Behavioral Health Services also has two additional integrated sites.  The Wilmot Family Care Center in East Tucson and Clinica del Alma in South Tucson provide patients with behavioral health and primary care services in one location.  Both clinics also have a pharmacy on site.

The Copper Cafe opened in December 2011.  The Cafe, located in the new Medical facility, is a work adjustment program allowing individuals who have been out of the workforce, or who have experienced employment difficulties, to receive "on the job" training.  Currently, The Copper Cafe provides paid work adjustment training to twelve trainees. The Cafe offers breakfast and lunch options, including pastries, breakfast wraps, gourmet sandwiches, soups and specialty coffees.

The new Counseling and Wellness Center opened in September 2012 and is located just across the parking lot from the MHC Healthcare medical facility. Our dream is that our new building will be a 'wellness center' for the community as well as our behavioral health clients. We have several complementary and alternative services available in the CWC. Alternative therapy services include: Acupunture, Massage, Chiropractic, Yoga and Mindfulness class.  Our new address is: 13395 North Marana Main Street, Building B.
