About the Department

MHC Healthcare (MHC) Behavioral Health Services, providing behavioral health and community services, was developed approximately 30 years ago. Over the last 15 years, the Department has tripled its staff and currently has contracts and/or collaboration agreements with many behavioral health organizations in Tucson, Arizona. On July 1, 2010, MHC Behavioral Health Services became a Community Service Provider (CSP) with the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona (CPSA). CPSA receives funding from the Arizona Department of Health Services/Division of Behavioral Health Services (ADHS/DBHS), Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Behavioral Health Services staff work closely with adult and juvenile probation to provide court ordered services to probationers and other individuals involved with the court system. MHC Behavioral Health Services also has contracts to provide services to families involved with DES/CPS, as well as individuals who have AHCCCS and are needing behavioral health services.

The Integrative Healthcare Center, IHCC, is located in the new Medical facility and provides integrative services for our seriously mentally ill clients.  In this location, the clients receive not only medical, psychiatric and behavioral health services in one location, but also dental, lab, radiology and pharmacy.

The Copper Cafe opened in December 2011.  The Cafe, located in the new Medical facility, is a work adjustment program allowing individuals who have been out of the workforce, or who have experienced employment difficulties, to receive "on the job" training.  The Copper Cafe offers breakfast and lunch options, including pastries, breakfast wraps, gourmet sandwiches, soups and specialty coffees.

Behavioral Health Services differs from other service providers in the community in that it is the only rural health center in the area and the only local agency providing behavioral health services to the residents of Marana, Rillito, Picture Rocks, Avra Valley and Northwest Tucson.

NOTE: Due to the recent expansion, Behavioral Health Services now has three licensed facilities.  Our main facility, 'The Ranch', is located on Sanders Rd., one mile up the road from the 'old' Marana Health Center.  This facility provides services to our GMH adult clients.  'Old Main', on Sandario Rd., provides both our Children's Services and Substance Abuse Services.  The IHCC provides services to our SMI clients at the new MHC facility on Marana Main Street.
