Group Therapies
Behavioral Health Services offers a five-week group for voluntary and court ordered individuals. Members meet once weekly for 1 and ½ hours. The program involves both educational and process elements to help people effectively manage their anger by changing their attitudes and behaviors. The Life Skills program meets the court ordered requirements for 7.5 hours of Adult Responsibility and/or Anger Management Education. Each session includes mini-lectures, written exercises, and group discussions.
This weekly group is specifically designed to provide adolescents with a group forum within which to discuss issues such as substance use/abuse, domestic violence, school problems and family issues.
This weekly group serves specifically adult bipolar clients who prefer to work on specific issues in a group setting.
This group is open to all persons experiencing the journey of cancer. Loved ones, care givers and friends are welcome!
This weekly group allows individuals to discuss issues associated with chronic pain as well as providing individuals with additional support.
The Grief and Trauma group is an experiential group designed to allow clients to gain insight into traumatic events by processing the event at a deep level. This group may utilize Native American spirituality as well as ‘empty chair’ work.
This weekly, 2-hour group, allows clients to ‘work on issues’ while working on creative projects. This group is primarily for seriously mentally ill clients who may not benefit from a verbally oriented group.
This weekly group serves adult clients who are suffering from depression and who may benefit from a group format with group interaction.
DUI Education is a 16-hour curriculum based program. The Treatment program is a 20-hour group-counseling program. Each group meets weekly for 2 hours. A certificate of completion is provided at the end of both programs for court ordered individuals.
Behavioral Health Services has several Domestic Violence (DV) or Interpersonal Awareness groups that meet weekly for two hours. Court ordered individuals may attend for 24, 26 or 52 weeks. Aftercare is also available for clients who wish to remain in the group after they have fulfilled their court requirements.
The DV curriculum is very structured consisting of facilitator presentations, client presentations and discussions in the areas of power and control, forms of abuse, family of origin issues, communication and relationship issues.
The Healthy Living Changers group is primarily for clients needing to make better choices in their lives. These choices may be around health, relationships etc. This is a discussion oriented group which provides on-going mentorship and support.
This bi-weekly group allows children to discuss their sadness/grief in a safe environment. Children share experiences learning that they are not alone in their feelings.
The Kid’s Substance Abuse Group is a psycho-educational group that not only educates children about substance use/abuse but also allows children to ‘process’ and discuss their experiences, questions, and concerns in this area.
This group assists group members to build loving and lasting relationships with the use of healthy communication tools. This group works for all relationships and is an open group.
This weekly group uses the Love and Logic Model and aids parents in attaining the needed knowledge and tools to effectively parent their children. This weekly group is specifically designed to meet the needs of parents of at-risk, acting out children and includes written exercises and group discussions.
This group also meets weekly at Estes Elementary School in Marana. Childcare is provided.
This group allows each individual to find 'solutions' to specific 'problems' utilizing not only her/her personal perspectives but the perspectives, experiences and suggestions of other group members. This is an interactive, open group.
Behavioral Health Services offers a number of different programs to help people with substance abuse issues. Several weekly Substance Abuse Groups are offered for people who are court ordered as well as for those who simply desire an after care program. Individual and Family Substance Abuse treatment is also available.
This group, for teen’s ages 13-18 years old, teaches new communication skills and appropriate ways of expressing anger. Discussion and role playing are used to teach and experience new coping skills in the area of anger management.
This weekly group is for girls, ages 12 - 18 years old, which have experienced sexual abuse. This group is a process group allowing the girls to process their feelings in this area.
The WRAP Group is a self-designed plan for 'staying well' and for helping each client to take personal responsibility and control over his/her own life. This Group assists clients in developing a personal Wellness Toolbox which includes a daily maintenance plan as well as a crisis plan. This is a closed group which meets for 5 weeks before a new group will begin.
The Women's Therapy/Support Group is primarily for middle-aged women dealing with depression and medical issues in a ninety-minute session. The goal of this group is to reduce depressive symptoms and minimize the impact of physical illness as loneliness is assuaged.
This group is an open group designed specifically for pregnant women and young moms. The topics will include stress management, coping skills, parenting and other issues associated with pre/post partum.
