Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is concerned with maximizing quality of life and improving functional ability.  Functional movement is central to what it means to be healthy.  Physical Therapists are concerned with promotion of health, with prevention of physical disabilities, with evaluation and rehabilitation of persons disabled by pain, disease, or injury, and with treatment by therapeutic measures as opposed to medical, surgical, or radiologic measures.

Physical therapists provide health care services to patients of all ages and health conditions.  They can help infants improve motor development and they can design programs to reduce the risk of falls in the elderly.  Patients recovering from a major surgery, a car accident, a back injury and/or who are managing chronic pain issues may significantly benefit from the services of a Physical Therapist.

Physical Therapists can help patients with cardiac and pulmonary disorders by improving their endurance and independence.  Physical Therapists will improve workplace design and help reduce the risk of muscle overuse or low back pain.  They provide services to athletes at all levels by screening for potential problems and designing training programs.  Physical therapists also design preventive exercise programs and programs to promote general health and fitness.  They often will consult with individuals and fitness clubs to develop workouts that are safe and effective.

Physical therapy involves the interaction between physicians, primary care providers, patients/clients, families, care givers, and communities in a process where movement potential is assessed and goals are agreed upon.  MHC Medical providers will refer patients to seek physical therapy treatment from many of the esteemed facilities in the greater Tucson Metro area.

MHC Healthcare will soon add Physical Therapy to the list of services offered to patients in the NW Pima County area.
